Wilderness National Park

The Wilderness National Park is located about 15km from the town of George on the Garden Route, in the southern regions of the Western Cape. The Park includes islands in the Wilderness National Lake Area, Rondevlei and Swartvlei Lake, and special features to look out for, are the Knysna Seahorse, the Pansy Shell, Pied Kingfisher, Grey Heron and Little Egret.

Affordable accommodation is available at the Ebb & Flow Restcamp, situated on the banks of the Touw River, with excellent camping facilities, family cottages, log cottages, and forest cabins.

Wilderness National Park activities:

  • Bathing, canoeing and fishing at Wilderness Beach, Touw River and some Lakes.
  • Hiking Trails – six trails ranging from easy to difficult.
  • Boating at Island Lake.
  • Mountain Biking.
  • Abseiling.
  • Birding.
