The Royal Coach is a bed and breakfast accommodation situated in the historical mining village of Kaapsehoop, in Mpumalanga. The Royal Coach was part of the White Train that was used in 1947 for the British Royal Tour, in which Queen Elizabeth II travelled on her visit to South Africa. Kaapsehoop or Kaapsche Hoop (established 1882) is a small, historical mining town on the Mpumalanga escarpment, that lies at an altitude of 1712m, free from malaria, with clear skies, crisp mountain air and beautiful views. The Two Creeks Hiking Trail is a moderate to difficult hike that starts and ends at Barretts Coaches, and is a 2 nights, 3 days hiking route through ravines, pine tree plantations, indigenous forest, rocky ledges, and passed the Starvation Creek Falls.

The Barretts Coaches comprises two train coaches with electricity, 50 bunk beds, 3 toilets, 2 showers, and a braai area with firewood provided – bring your own cooking and eating utensils.

Kaapsehoop Horse Trails is an idyllic hideaway at the end of a 7km forest track. The Kaapsehoop Horse Trails was established in 1994 on a 17,000 hectare private concession on the Berlin forestry plantation of Komatiland. Kaapsehoop is in the Mpumalanga province 1486m above sea level on the Highveld escarpment, about 25km from Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga. Because the Kaapsehoop Horse Trails are at a high altitude (1486m / 4878 ft.) it is quite possible to experience four seasons in one day. Horse Trails Packages:

General
This is a ‘no hurry, no worry’ out-of-world place offering many and varied horse riding conditions that will suit all disciplines and any level of experience. We have well-trained cross-bred horses.

Base Rides
1 hour rides: Enjoy an hour scenic ride which is suitable for the beginner type rider as well as the not-so-fit rider.
2 hour rides: The two hour ride is for the more experienced rider who rides frequently.
4-6 hour rides: The 4-6 hour ride is for the more experienced rider who rides frequently. A minimum of 6 riders are required.

Overnight Rides
The Wilderness Trails is suited for experienced, frequent riders. The availabilty is subject to number of riders and season. Riders arrive at Kaapsehoop Horse Trails on the afternoon prior to the trail. Here they meet their horses and their guides and depart for an hour’s ride along the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment. This is an ideal opportunity to get to know your horse.
