Kaapsehoop Horse Trails is located on the Drakensberg escarpment, on a 17,000 hectare private concession on the Berlin forestry plantation of Komatiland, about 7km from Kaapsehoop town in Mpumalanga. Scenic horse riding trails winding through grasslands and pine forests, are enjoyed by beginners and experienced riders alike.

Kaapsehoop Horse Trails offers scenic horse riding trails, supervised educational programmes for kids, lead reign pony rides for small children, as well as self-catering accommodation, a coffee shop, and a venue for small functions. Bookings essential.

Karin’s Kaia is a cozy, self catering home-away-from-home, situated in the beautiful little town of Kaapsehoop. The cottage sleeps 6 people (ideally 4 adults and 2 children) with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and has all modern amenities:

Kaapsehoop Horse Trails is an idyllic hideaway at the end of a 7km forest track. The Kaapsehoop Horse Trails was established in 1994 on a 17,000 hectare private concession on the Berlin forestry plantation of Komatiland. Kaapsehoop is in the Mpumalanga province 1486m above sea level on the Highveld escarpment, about 25km from Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga. Because the Kaapsehoop Horse Trails are at a high altitude (1486m / 4878 ft.) it is quite possible to experience four seasons in one day. Kaapsehoop Horse Trails packages include horse riding, accommodation and kid’s camps.

Horse Trails Packages:

General
This is a ‘no hurry, no worry’ out-of-world place offering many and varied horse riding conditions that will suit all disciplines and any level of experience. We have well-trained cross-bred horses.

Base Rides
1 hour rides: Enjoy an hour scenic ride which is suitable for the beginner type rider as well as the not-so-fit rider.
2 hour rides: The two hour ride is for the more experienced rider who rides frequently.
4-6 hour rides: The 4-6 hour ride is for the more experienced rider who rides frequently. A minimum of 6 riders are required.

Overnight Rides
The Wilderness Trails is suited for experienced, frequent riders. The availabilty is subject to number of riders and season. Riders arrive at Kaapsehoop Horse Trails on the afternoon prior to the trail. Here they meet their horses and their guides and depart for an hour’s ride along the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment. This is an ideal opportunity to get to know your horse.
